Instructors: Sharon Hansbury & Marisa Underwood
Sundays 3:00 pm - 4:00pm
Criteria: Dogs 6 months and up. Dogs must be able to work comfortably near other dogs.
Content: Whether your dog is a casual walking companion, a hiking buddy, or a future agility star, one thing remains true: basic obedience is the foundation of a well-behaved dog. In this class we will work on many of the training skills needed for success in your daily life. The goal of this class will be teaching and reinforcing commands such as sit, down, place, stay, heel/loose leash, and recall. We will practice these skills through various fun exercises each week. In the last class there will be an option to test for the CGC and/or CGCA. We will cover all testing items during the session.
Equipment: No harnesses for this class. Dogs should be wearing a martingale collar at minimum. Prong or pinch collars can be used but must have a back-up clip attached to a martingale or flat collar. Handlers should also be using a 4–6-foot leash. Crates are not necessary as your dog will be out working with you. Bring lots of high/low value treats and/or their favorite toy.
Please Note: For the CGC and/or CGCA test your dog will need to wear a well-fitting buckle or slip collar (including martingale). No prong/pinch collars can be used during the test. Food/treats are also not allowed in the testing area.
