    Junior Handlers only and will focus on basic obedience with team and confidence building.

    Content: This class is for junior handlers ages 8 to 16. Focus on the class will be basic obedience and team building for the dog and handler. Training approach will be positive reinforcement. Will teach basic obedience skills for everyday life and to help children transition to competitive dog sports.

    Content: This is a run thru class. There will be no instruction on teaching obedience exercises except for how to be a judge or to ring steward to give a more trial like experience. Everyone will be expected to help out either as a judge, ring steward or providing ring like distractions.     Criteria: This class is open to all trick dog levels, novice, intermediate, advanced, Performer, Elite.

    Content: Participants will be expected to bring in their own props if something is needed outside of what AOC has. We will split into groups based on level each team is working on. Participants are expected to choose which tricks they would like to work on each week and keep track of their own trick dog checklist.

    Trick tests will be given throughout the class as the tricks are witnessed.  Increased cost of class covers the cost of ribbons and evaluation.  Handlers are responsible for submitting Trick title application and fee to AKC  for title registration and certificate.

    Instructor: Lauri Jenkins

    Criteria: Dog can jump sequences of at least 5 jumps. Dog can work on full height contacts. You MUST have completed an intro and beginner agility class prior to taking this class.

    Content: This class will focus on basic agility skills. Demonstration of training from 1-jump, 2-jump break down of skill to using short sequence to practice and proof.

    Skills: Front cross, rear cross, blind cross, wrap, send to back, serpentines, treadles, tunnel/contact discriminations. The execution of these skills while setting lines will be covered. Weaves will NOT be specifically addressed in this class. Main focus will be on jumping. Contacts will be used mainly to practice discrimination and setting lines.

    Criteria: Handlers/dogs should be running at the Open or Excellent level.

    Content: This session will alternate between drills focusing on specific skill improvement on one week with run thrus on the following week. Participants will have the opportunity to suggest the specific skills on which they wish to focus.

    Masks may be mandated contingent on status of Covid pandemic.

    Criteria: Class is open to any dog who either has earned a Rally Advanced or Rally Excellent title or who has been in the Advanced /Excellent Run through classes.

    Content: This class is a Rally Master Run Through class. Emphasis will be placed on becoming familiar with the signs for the Master level. There will be a different course each week to practice Rally Master Level Rally skills and guidance will be available.

    Criteria: Great for beginning dogs and advanced dogs. We teach basic dog training skills and also conduct Run-thru's

    Content: Rally is designed to be a fun approach to Dog Training. This is a dual purpose class, depending on your needs. For some, it’s an introduction to Novice Rally and for others it’s simply a run-thru class. The instructors are very experienced dog trainers and competitors, in many venues. The instructors will explain how Rally works and encourage handlers to use positive training techniques to navigate through beginner rally courses. We want to see happy dogs and rally novice is an awesome tool to help your pup learn some of the basics for Rally, Agility, Obedience and general competition

    The class is suitable for youth handlers.

    Criteria: Introduction and continued training in Handler Discrimination. Dogs & handlers should be used to working as a beginner team in Scent Work.

    Criteria: Dogs must be proficient in birch, anise, clove and cypress scents and capable of multiple hides and working with distractions. If the class limit is not reached, a handler may register a second dog.

    Content: This class is non instructional. Class members are active participants in designing, setting up and taking down the class searches. Interior, exterior, container, vehicle and buried searches may be set up.

    Limit: 8 (one dog per handler; if limit is not reached than a second dog can be registered)

    Criteria: Dogs' skills to qualify for the class are jumps and tunnels.

    Content: We will be working on verbal skills for the type of jumping and tunnel performance we need for a particular sequence.
    Dogs will be working short sequences of 5 to 12 obstacles. Weaves and contacts will not be used.

    Criteria: Agility Handling 1 or an equivalent course. This class is suitable for teams working toward or competing at the novice/starters level. Dog should have a recall and be comfortable with tunnels and jumps. Please bring a ball, toy or food container that you can throw as a reward.

    Content: We will use short sequences of jumps, tunnels and 2x2 weave poles to build mastery of the handling skills needed to compete at the novice level and beyond, including lead outs, sends, turns, crosses, serpentines and pull throughs. The goal is to develop consistent handling cues that build your dog’s confidence, consistency and speed.

    Criteria: Teams should perform the Novice Obedience Exercises and have started to introduce Open Obedience Exercises to their dog.

    Content: This is a Run-Thru class with coaching from the instructors. The goal is to build a solid working relationship between dog and handler, which will improve the overall performance of the exercises. Teams will work on heeling with attention and focus. Each class session teams will focus on 2 to 3 of the Open exercises.

    Note: When dogs are not working they must be crated either in the training room (limited crates are available to use) or in their car.

    Criteria: Dogs must know sit & down

    Content: This class is for teams who are preparing to compete in novice obedience. We will be concentrating on the exercises required for Novice, Beginner Novice and Preferred Novice (heeling, figure 8's, stays, recalls, sit/stand for exam, etc.) Students must bring a crate to class since dogs will need to be crated when not actively working.

    Criteria: Open to all dogs under 1 year of age. 

    Content: Puppy class will concentrate on basic obedience exercises for puppies. We will cover sit, down, stand, stay, come when called, home manners, etc. Reward timing and learning how to communicate with your puppy will also be part of this class. Puppy class is a perfect next step after STAR Puppy. However, it is not required that puppies have their STAR title to register. Group puppy play is not part of this class.

    Criteria: For dogs who are currently competing at the open level and ready to move to Masters or are in Masters level. Must be able to safely complete all contacts at full height and 12 straight weave poles.

    Criteria: Handlers and dogs of all ages and skill levels. Crate training is not part of this class. While we do have all dogs on the training floor for most of the class each week, dogs must be able go into a crate while waiting their turn for certain exercises. STUDENTS MUST BRING A CRATE TO CLASS.

    Content: This class will focus on beginner and intermediate obedience exercises. For beginners we will work on sit, down, stand, walking on a loose leash, recalls, attention, motivation, etc. For intermediate teams we will expand on the beginner exercises by working on duration and distractions as well as Beginner Novice, Preferred Novice and Novice obedience exercises. Class content will be adapted to skill level of teams in attendance.

    Limit: 36 (To be split into two or more classes.  One dog per handler per class time.)

    Criteria: Handlers must have put an advanced Obedience title on at least one dog AND must have plans to trial their current dog in advanced Obedience classes (eg, Open, Utility, Upr1-3, AS OB1-3). The dog can be working at any level.

    Content: In this class, we will help each other train by sharing problems and strategies, as well as spotting other teams’ performances. The goal is to develop an animated, engaged, precise performance, while having a good time.

    This is NOT a run-through class.

    Criteria: Puppies should be around 3-7 mos old at the start of the session and able to stay in a crate (or the car) when not working. You will need a flat collar, a 6-foot leash w/o a loop handle (get a cheap nylon one!), treats, a toy, and a hungry puppy. A clicker will be useful.

    Content: We will use a variety of games to teach foundational skills while building engagement between puppy and handler. The puppies will learn to go around things, walk on weird surfaces, and find heel position; they will develop a sit, down and maybe a stand; they’ll play some nose games, work towards a solid recall, and just generally have a good time. Puppies will alternate between working and resting in their crates (or car), with 1-2 puppies out on the floor at a time. We will not be doing any formal exercises in this class.

    Limit: 6. (One puppy per handler)

    Criteria: This class is for dogs with agility foundation who are ready to start trialing. Dogs must be able to do all contact equipment safely.

    Criteria: For dogs and handlers who have taken Foundations for Agility and Intro to Obstacles OR permission of instructor. Dogs must be in relatively good physical condition (age, weight, movement, eyesight etc.). Dogs must be able to work off leash while others are also working.

    Content: This class will work on teaching dogs about the agility obstacles. The goal is to develop confident dogs who understand how to approach each obstacle. Handlers are free to choose their preferred “method” or “approach” if they have one.

    Limit: 6 (1 dog per handler)

    Criteria: Completion of Introduction to Scent Work OR have their dog’s level of scent work training evaluated by the instructor prior to registering for the class. Dogs must be proficient in birch scent.

    Content: this class continues to build on the scent work foundation begun in Introduction to SW. Emphasis is on scent sourcing and developing a strong indication of the scent hides through a correct and timely delivery of the reward. Anise and clove scents, multiple known hides, distractions, and inaccessible hides will be introduced as the class progresses.

    This class is appropriate for competition preparation or as a fun activity for you and your dog.

    Class will start on 1/15/23.

    Criteria: Dogs must be 1 year old on or before last class. Dogs should already know sit & down, have a recall, be comfortable around children and have the ability to work on-leash in a group environment. Note: We will not be focusing on teaching basic obedience skills in this class.

    Content: This class will focus on the exercises required for Therapy Dogs International (TDI) test. For an overview of TDI Test Requirements, and what each dog/handler team is tested for, please view the TDI brochure here:. https://www.tdi-dog.org/images/TestingBrochure.pdf Teams must attend a minimum of 4 classes to be eligible for the test. Please bring proof of up to date rabies vaccination AND dog license to first class; this is a TDI requirement.

    TDI Test:  The 7th week of class will be dedicated to TDI testing; date of test will be announced at first class, and will be limited to teams enrolled in class.  There will be an additional fee of $10 to take the TDI test; payable to the evaluator. TDI testing is a pass or fail test. The testing fee applies for all teams taking the test; whether they pass or fail.

    Limit: 12 (One dog per handler)
